I'm so on the fence about my fitness...

Today was my long run, a one-hour long run. It was a cool morning, 13 C. I got out the door around 10 a.m. The first 10 minutes were hard, weirdly. I don't know why, but I felt stiff and didn't settle into it. My heart rate increased quickly to 130 bpm; the session is to keep it at 130 bpm or less.

After 10 minutes, I started feeling really good. It was night and day. I could hold a pace under 130 bpm for prolonged periods before having to walk to keep my heart rate down. When I did have to walk to keep my heart rate under 130 bpm, I didn't have to walk long, maybe 10 - 15 seconds, max 30 seconds.

It felt like a faster run than it was, disappointingly. The run was through Bronte Park trails, and the tranquil runs were through the trees. It's just beautiful. There is no traffic, and it's all trail running. You only have to be careful to not trip over a tree root protruding from the ground.

Other than the slower-than-hoped average running pace, I ran 90% of the time. It's a win, but that's stretching it. My slow speeds on the run and bike make me wonder if I have some sort of medical issue. Although I might be doing much better if I get serious about weight training and building my muscles, I also need to focus on stretching. I find it hard to motivate myself to do either.

Diet-wise, I started recording what I eat on the MyFitness App today. I'm not sure I'm losing 1 - 2 lbs per week, I'm only weighing myself once a month, but I'm super concerned if I don't, as it's critical to my race that I'm down serious weight before the race. The ideal would be no more than 205 lbs, but ideally under 200 lbs.

I backtracked and recorded yesterday's calories. I ate 2372 calories and exercised 1513 calories, which put me in a small deficit of 821 calories. It sounds good, but I know my metabolism, and to lose weight, I'd like to be around 1200 calories. MyFitnessPal says I should have a goal of 1680 calories without considering exercise, and that will get me losing 1 - 2 lbs a week.

Since I haven't been following the diet I was on and am starting to count calories, I find it more challenging. I've realized I like being told what to eat and when. I did a sample day of calories using the app that told me what to eat and when; the calories were 1447 for that day. I would have trained, so with my protein and banana afterward, it would have been 1720.

We went to a restaurant for lunch today. I had the all-day breakfast of eggs benedict with salmon and fruit instead of home fries. It's 630 calories, so it was a good choice. I have been thinking about food more than I have and keep telling myself to stop the sabotage thoughts.

I looked at my bike this afternoon to fix the lost aero bar. It turns out it can't be fixed; the bracket snapped. I Googled the bracket to order, and it's not available. I may have to order new Aero bars unless a brand works with 3T Aura Pros.

I was looking at the Velofix website, and they had a Platinum service that strips the bike to the frame and rebuilds it for $450. It got me thinking that maybe that's what I need only. They can check everything on the bike to ensure safety, replace the aero bars, fix the bent front sprocket, check my wheels, and see if the bearings are spinning correctly.

It would cost me $1500 with parts, much cheaper than the $10,000 Canyon bike I ordered. I could send the Canyon bike back. The only issue is that the Velofix schedule shows the soonest they could come by is September 24th, which is too far away. I emailed them to see if they could come sooner and am waiting to hear back. Should I get the Cervelo fixed and sell it?

Run - 1:02:28 / 8.29 km / 7:32 p/km pace

Week totals - 8 hours 15 min / 156.71 km
