College Football time...
For the first 30 minutes, there were no issues. It seemed that the leg weight lifting, elliptical, and massage helped. Then, around 31 minutes in, I could feel the stress on my calves, which was not feeling right. It wasn't in the same spot as before, but it was tender.
Initially, the run was fun. However, there were sidewalks that ended, and it wasn't great for running. Then I went down a dead-end street and got lucky. At the end of the street, there was a park with trails running through the trees. It was really nice and made the ride much more enjoyable.
When I got back to the hotel, I felt okay. But as the day went on, my legs started to feel stiff and sore, which surprised me.
Prior to the game, we picked up Michigan State Spartan shirts. It's our tradition, "when in Rome," to show up looking like Michigan fans. I love going to college games. There is great energy, and tailgating and just getting out of the house for the weekend with a reason to drive the car make it so enjoyable. Just staying in a hotel makes it feel like a vacation. From where we parked to the stadium, it was close to two kilometers. Then we were on the top tier of the stadium, and it required a lot of walking upwards. Lots of walking. If I wasn't in decent shape from 10 weeks of training, I definitely would have been huffing, puffing, and sweating. The walk to the stadium and up the ramps added to my sore legs.
Of course, halfway into the game, I needed to go get some more White Claw cocktails, but they didn't sell them on the top tier. I had to walk all the way down to the bottom tier and then trek all the way up on the ramps, which required more leg work.
After the game, walking back to the car, we got lost, which added to the walk on Strava—not much, but a little, and added to my beat-up and sore legs.
I was starting to feel a could coming on this morning and fought it, but it hit Alice. I thought it was from a burger we ordered from a run-down Burger King, but now I realize we picked it up on Thursday at our work dinner. One of the others sitting beside us was sick, and it spread to Alice, myself, and one other person.
