I'm a beat up old dog...

Today, I went for an early run before work and the heat. These runs are not yet fun, as my left calf and lower leg are tight. I'm always on edge that they're eventually going to seize up, and I'm going to be really injured.

The upside of this run was it was to be done at an easy pace and in a low heart rate zone, which is nice. It means I can enjoy it and walk as I need to to keep my heart rate down. Which I did have to walk.

All I've been doing is rolling my calf with a roller, hoping it will eventually heal. The reality is that I think I need to just take time off and let it heal, and in the process, focus on strength training and getting equal balance in both legs.

I also ordered new shoes. As I was running, I thought of 240 lbs coming down on these trainers and racing shoes. Perhaps I need more shock absorption and cushion. So, I ordered a new pair of Asics and should get them within the next week. Hopefully, that helps.

My shoulder is still sore, especially when I sleep and roll over it. Again, I'm hoping with some rest, it will be good by the end of this week or the beginning of next, when I can get back in the pool and start swimming again.

I'm doing well on the diet and following it nearly perfectly. It seems I'm always in ketosis, which means my body has adapted to burning energy from my fat, and I have a lot of energy to burn.

Run - 47:10 - 5.61 km - 8:24 / km pace.
